Morning Session - 10 am to 12 noon
Introduction to the Ashtanga Yoga Method: Theory, Lineage, Breath and Peak Poses
Interested in Ashtanga but don’t know where to start or what it really is? Have some working knowledge of Ashtanga but want some more guidance as to the practice and the peak poses? Regardless of experience level, this workshop is for you. You will learn the origins of Ashtanga Yoga, how it fits into the global yoga tradition, and what makes the Ashtanga method of practice unique. With that background established, you’ll explore the breathing-movement link that characterizes the Ashtanga practice. Finally, it’s time to dive into those tricky poses, specifically (but not limited to): Marichiasana D, Bujapidasana, Kurmasana, Supta Kurmasana, and Sirsasana. You will walk away from this workshop with the tools you need to start your own Ashtanga yoga practice, and the guidance to confidently step into the Mysore room.
