Classical Alignment: Introduction to Iyengar Yoga w/Laura Hughes

Join Laura Hughes, our YTT 1000, for a weekend of classical alignment training and movement literacy rooted in the Iyengar tradition. The weekend will give students the foundations to teach yoga with the alignment principles that aim to create equanimity in the physical, mental, intellectual and spiritual body, both on and off the map. Iyengar Yoga is Hatha yoga with a focus on precision in alignment and words. Skills include understanding the use of props and the yoga wall to enhance alignment. Students will come away with a better understanding of how to teach to all levels in the class.

Laura has studied with Judith Lasater, Ramanand Patel, and Carrie Owerko for 15 years and is one of only two Judith Lasater certified Advanced Restore and Renew trainers in the Carolinas. She completed her 1000 hour RYT with the Southern Institute for Yoga Instructors (SIYI) in 2004, which is based on the two-year San Francisco Iyengar Institute Teacher training.

This module is part of the 300 Hour RYT teacher training and is open to anyone, although you will get the most out of it if you have some experience of yoga. We consider this part of our advanced studies. Your full and complete attendance is required for credit.

Course cost: $350

20 hours of lecture and practice

If you were working towards our 300 Hour certification there’s an additional 10 contact hour requirement to be completed within three months. These contact hours will be assisting Laura in fundamentals and/or wall classes.
